Continental Drift - Present Day |
---|
The continents are now in there present day locations but motion has by no means stopped. Volcanic activity along the mid-Atlantic ridge is causing the ocean floor to expand and is forcing North and South America further west. As the North American plate collides with the Pacific Plate seismic activity along this boundary also increases. Australia has now separated from Antarctica and continues to move north.
The age of man is now at hand and for the first time in the history of the Earth mass extinctions are being created as the result of the dominant life form.
