The north rim Ranger Station and Backcountry Office is located next to the north rim Campground.
It is open daily from 7:30 am until 12:00 noon.
A waiting list is maintained for backcountry permits for the north rim for those individuals or parties who did not request and receive permits in advance. Names are accepted in person only and it may require 2 or 3 days to obtain a permit in this fashion. It is strongly suggested that you request your permit before coming to the park.
The phone number for the North Rim Backcountry Office is 928-638-7875. The hours that they field calls is from 1:00 PM til 5:00 PM MST, Monday thru Friday.
A hiker shuttle is available from the Grand Canyon Lodge to the North Kaibab trailhead. The shuttle runs daily from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm and tickets can be purchased at the front desk of the Grand Canyon Lodge.
Shuttle service is available between the north and south rims for those who wish to do a trans-canyon hike one-way only. For information and fees contact Trans Canyon Shuttle at 928-638-2820.
