We awoke at 6:00, got up, packed up the site and were out of camp a little after 7:00. We reached the Three-mile resthouse at 8:00 and stopped there to rest and have some breakfast. We started out again at 8:15 and reached the One-and-a-half-mile resthouse around 9:30. We rested some more and also ate some more of the trail mix and finished it off. We started the final leg of the trail, to the rim, at 9:45.

We encountered some Grand Canyon bighorn sheep about 10:30, less than 1 mile or 30 minutes from the rim. There was a while herd of them and we spent about 15 minutes watching and taking photos of them. There were two adult males battling over some females. We actually got to see them charge each other and crash horns twice. It was a very, very impressive site and also very loud.

We started back up toward the rim at 10:45 and we were back on the top at 11:07. We immediately headed for the car, threw the gear inside and put on some clean clothes. It is amazing how wonderful something as simple as a clean T-shirt can feel after you've been out backpacking for a week. We then headed over to the Maswik cafeteria to get some lunch and finally over to the general store to do some last minute souvenier shopping before heading for Phoenix.

We arrive in Phoenix a little after 5:00 and got room at Comfort Inn at I-17 & Camelback. I went out and got pizza and beer for dinner and brought it back to the room. We watched the season premier of Boston Public, a new episode of Alley McBeal and then Crossing Jordan - all set in BOSTON? Ah, civilization? While watching TV we also did some repacking of the duffel and suitcase and got all of the gear stowed.
