"The Canyon Trip Promised to Matthew Huggins" |
---|
View from part way up Eminence Trail. Here we are looking downstream. Point Hasnsbrough is the massive cliff on the right. Our camp is down there on the left bank, in the general area of Peter Hansbrough's grave. This was the spot where in 1890 Robert Brewster Stanton had found Hansbrough's body, identified by the clothing. It is also the place where the body of David Quigley, a boy scout who drowned in Glenn Canyon in June of 1951, was found. Quigley was found by Don Harris on his expedition of July of the same year, and he buried the youth right there. Its a pretty area in which to be buried. We camped here Saturday night, the 9th of August. My wedding anniversary. |
