LAST DAY ON THE SOUTH RIM
This was the extra day added to our trip to show Steven the sights along the South Rim. Since he wasn't with us we decided to see a few things for ourselves. After a good breakfast we walked to the new visitor's center. No cars allowed. It was a pleasant walk and the visitors center was outstanding, especially the bookstore. We all bought several things to take home for gifts. Next stop was the El Tovar Hotel to view the lobby with all the animal heads on display. More gift shops where we bought a few items and had them shipped home. We tried to make reservations in the fancy restaurant, but they were full until 9 o'clock. Too late for us. Then we walked to Kolb Studio to see the Gary Ladd photo display and on to the bus stop to take the Red Line out to Hermits Rest as Phil had never been there. Phil and Al walked a little way down the Hermits Trail just to see what it was like while I waited in the building and gift shop. Then the return trip back to the Yavapai Lodge to buy some more gifts and had them shipped home also. Dinner again in the cafeteria and early turn in for our trip to Flagstaff and Phoenix.
